Is Pinday really free?
Yes, for the timetable, check-ins, stats, notes, slides, sharing and the map: no ads and no trial. The AI study mode is an optional subscription because every request has a real cost. Your notes use the storage of your own Google Drive, which you already have.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Open the app and import your timetable. If you want notes, slides and syncing, connect your Google account once. Pinday remembers it on your device for up to 180 days.
Does it work with my university?
Pinday reads .ics files (the standard calendar format). If your university portal or calendar app can export one, it works: most of them can, including Google Calendar and Outlook. Lectures, sport practice, labs, seminars, exercises and exams each get their own look.
What can Pinday see in my Google Drive?
Only the files it creates for you: the Pinday folder, your notes, your slides and the data sheet. Google doesn't let it open anything else.
Can I write notes with other people?
Yes. Invite classmates by email to write in the same note at the same time, share a link as viewer, commenter or editor, or share a whole course folder. People you invite see the note under Shared with me.
What does the AI mode do with my notes?
Only when you open it and ask, Pinday sends the text of the note or course you chose to the AI to answer, and nothing is kept for training. It can summarise, make flashcards and quizzes, and search the web if you ask with /web. It needs a subscription, and a monthly allowance is shown as a percentage.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. On a phone it has a bottom bar for Today, Notes, Stats and Check-ins. Open it in your browser, or install it like an app from the menu; there is nothing to download from a store.
What happens if I stop using it?
Your notes stay in your Drive as normal Markdown and PDF files, and your data stays in the Google Sheet. Disconnect in the app and delete the folder if you want everything gone.
